There are two sites I know of that are doing some interesting things with their film’s themes. The first is a clever toss of the hat to Sean Parker and The Social Network – Youknowwhatscool.com.
The second takes you into the mind of Black Swan’s main character. Ijustwanttobeperfect.com. It doesn’t hurt that Natalie Portman all sweaty and intense makes for compelling celluloid.
This is a fairly low tech way of getting the film and its themes to go viral. What’s great about it is how little output is involved. A good idea is needed and matching domain name (which costs nothing) and presto chango – marketing that works. I’m sure there are whole populations of sophisticated web users who will simply shrug, but I think it’s a breath of fresh air.
