Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, and Sandra Bullock are reportedly part of the high-powered package for a comedy set “in the world of a Home Shopping-type network” (Is that a “world” or an “underworld”?) If that sounds mildly interesting, prepare to have your expectations lowered when you hear they’re jumping on-board based on an unwritten script by Michael Patrick King. (Much safer strategy than trying to persuade them after they’ve had a look at a script he’s already written.)
Why would these three Klieg-light talents be eager to sign up with Michael Patrick King after the dim-bulb debacle of Sex and the City 2? Best explanation I can come up with: we keep hearing that Hollywood is a business, and I’m guessing these girls enjoy money. I mean, if QVC is good enough for Joan Rivers, Suzanne Somers and Tori Spelling, it ought to be good enough for Meryl, Oprah and Sandy. (Notice anything deeply fucked-up about that sentence?)
As yet, the movie is so unwritten it’s still untitled too. How about calling it ‘The Happy Hockers’?
