I’ll begin with a caveat: the film with the top BFCA score doesn’t necessarily win Best Picture, either at BFCA or at the Oscars. Sometimes it will; often it won’t. Last year’s only perfect score went to Me and Orson Welles, a little¬†indie that never gained any Oscar traction, and received only a supporting nom for Christian McKay at the Critics’ Choice Awards. In 2007, The Departed (91) won out over four films boasting higher BFCA scores: The Queen (95), Letters from Iwo Jima (95), Babel (94) and Little Miss Sunshine (94). So take this for what it’s worth… but The King’s Speech has started¬†its¬†campaign¬†by racking up¬†a perfect 100 from the Broadcast Film Critics. We’ll see if¬†it can hold onto that¬†majestic¬†ranking as more critics chime in over the next week or two.¬†Also¬†newly rated¬†are Tangled at 86, Four Lions at 79¬†and¬†Morning Glory at 77. Below¬†I’ve listed¬†mainly contenders for BP and acting categories.
