The New York Film Critics Online will announce their awards December 12 at 7:30 pm Eastern. There is some crossover here with the New York Film Critics — some of the members are the same.
Last year, the New York Film Critics announced December 14. No word yet, I don’t think, on when they’ll announce this year but it will be in the first two weeks of December probably.
I’ve just gotten word that the New York Film Critics Circle (for print critics) will announce on December 13.
The New York film critics, and the Los Angeles Film critics, really, tend to be the trendsetters with how the subsequent critics’ awards will vote. The Southeastern Film Critics also seem to make a big difference, along with BFCA – as they tend to be larger voting bodies. After the critics awards come the all-important guild awards. And even still, when all is said and done, the AMPAS can introduce a film they liked to the race — like last year’s The Blind Side, which really only had Sandra Bullock out front with the guilds, mostly.

Best Screenplay: Quentin Tarantino – Inglourious Basterds
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz – Inglourious Basterds as Col. Hans Landa
Best Supporting Actress: Mo’Nique – Precious as Mary
Breakthrough Performer: Christoph Waltz – Inglourious Basterds
