North Texas Goes for Inception

The North Texas Film Critics have released this year’s winners. They chose Up in the Air as Best Picture last year:

Best Picture: Inception, followed by runners up The King’s Speech and The Fighter.

Best Director: Christopher Nolan (for Inception). Runners up: David O. Russell (The Fighter) and the Coen Brothers (True Grit).

Best Actor: Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), followed by Jeff Bridges in True Grit and James Franco in 127 Hours.

Best Actress: Natalie Portman, for Black Swan. (This was the only unanimous result.) Runners up included Jennifer Lawrence for Winter’s Bone and Annette Benning for The Kids Are Alright.

Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale (The Fighter), followed by Geoffrey Rush in The King’s Speech and Jeremy Renner in The Town.

Best Supporting Actress: Melissa Leo (The Fighter), followed by Amy Adams (also in The Fighter) and Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech).

Best Cinematography went to Wally Pfister for Inception, with Anthony Dod Mantle (127 Hours) and Danny Cohen (The King’s Speech) taking the runners up slots.

Best Animated: Toy Story 3, followed in the voting by How to Train Your Dragon and Despicable Me.

Best Documentary went to Waiting for “Superman”, with Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work close behind. Restrepo and Inside Job tied for third place.

Best Foreign Language Film went to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Sweden), followed by I Am Love (Italy)
