Nominated for Best Supporting Actress by the The Golden Globes, the Broadcast Film Critics, SAG, the Satellites, the London Film Critics, and every other reputable group on the planet, Octavia Spenser has been setting the talk show circuit on fire with her frisky energy.
(not sure why this embed won’t expand to full width. You might rather watch it on the ABC site.)
I think it’s Bejo, too. Unless Big Van(essa Redgrave) turns up by some Harvey W. magic to land, heretofore un-nominated in the BSA category and blows everyone else out of the water!
Why is it I find myself writing about Harvey W. every single day of my life?
Well, he’s got sooo many films in The Race this year. “Marilyn”, “Iron Lady”, “The Artist” AND “Coriolanus”! His staff must be VERY busy!
FYI, the Puerto Rican actress who played Marilyn Monroe, Michelle Williamez, will be on Leno tonight as the Martian Jeremy Irvine will be on Letterman. 😛
@Paddy M Excuse me. I meant movies besides the two she mentioned and THE HELP. I’ve explained a million times that I had no desire to see that movie and I didn’t see BAD SANTA or BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE. I guess I’m not that high brow.
I thought Berenice Bejo was French. Once again, I’ve explained several thousand times that THE ARTIST hasn’t and probably won’t play where I live. I’ve never seen her before to my knowledge and she’s in a French film. Sorry that I was so rude to think she might be French. I’ll have to remember how offensive it is to someone starring in a French movie to be thought of as French.
I used to think Spencer was a lock for the win. But now it’s looking more and more like Bejo or Chastain. And then there’s Melissa McCarthy waiting in the wings.
* Pardon me, don’t know how ‘little’ made it into my post. Sometimes I wonder about myself…
You missed Octavia Spencer, Antoinette? Did you just miss her in a major role in one of the summer’s biggest films, or have you also missed all the awards she’s won and been nominated for in the past month?
And by little French lady, do you mean Berenice Bejo? Cos she’s Argentinian by origin.
I sound like one of those Harry Potter maniacs. I’m not – I didn’t like The Help very much.
Gary Oldman was on Conan the other day. And that french lady was on Leno. But I’m surprised how little the Oscar folks have been on talk shows. It’s like they think they’ll go on after they get nominated. But then what if they don’t? lol
What else was this lady on besides Kimmel? I don’t remember seeing her in any movies. Sometimes I just magically miss a person.
she’s fabulous!
Love her! I totally forgot about Bad Santa. She’s got such a strange film resume. I forgot she was the nurse who was brutally stabbed in Halloween II!
