I’m right with ya steve50. Let the seance take hold of the moon and all of nature shall lasso it down to earth so Pi can see his way home.
We should have a seance or something tonite, maybe invoke the power of the full moon to give Ang Lee a bit of a boost.
Agree Kiel. Life off Pi will be a classic in time.
Keeping my fingers grossed that Ang Lee will win best director tomorrow night. The tide appears to be turning in Lee’s direction in the last week according to experts, pundits, editors and blogs in general.
But whatever happens, I’m proud to be a Pi stan.
No matter what happens, Life of Pi will be remembered, talked about, and loved for decades to comes. But I think it could win 6 or 7 Oscars, maybe more.
@Andre — I grew up in a Chinese household in America so I am used to the accent. You are right that Lee’s accent has lessened but it’s still there. It doesn’t bother me at all because I like the accent having grown up with it.
A Pi victory would be fantastic. A Hugo like sweep of the artistic awards would be great too, but the icing would be Ang Lee the Director winner, and the movie BP. (I think his original accent is still very present, Andre, but it does have some interesting elements in it)
I speak with a VERY british accent (I interviewed Colin Firth once and HE asked ME where in England I was from… THAT’S how english I sound), but I lived in the US for a while… I really did NOT pick up on ANY accent from Lee’s interview.
but, as I said, maybe it’s just me. it’s a non-issue, really.
I hate confrontation, btw hahahahaahahah
@davey
really? I was playing the video and looking at another tab and thinking “who’s talking now?”
you probably have a better ear than me =)
@Andre – I can still hear his accent.
though it’s not my favourite of 2012; or even among the BP nominees, I would not mind AT ALL if this film had a sweep sunday night.
also, Lee has COMPLETELY lost his accent! as an english teacher, I have to say, that’s astonishing! he has no accent at all! I know he’s been living in the US for a very long time, but even when he won for “Brokeback…”, I could still hear some of it. hearing one of my idols speak so perfectly makes me proud to teach english here in Brazil.
lovely featurette and amazing film.
ang lee deserves one more oscar , he is the only one who gets all importnat awards ( GG/DGA/BAFTA/OSCAR ) best director nominations.
The way you feel about LIfe of pi, I feel about Beast of the southern wild.
Ang Lee said in an interview that he would like to win because he would consider it to be an acknowledgement to everyone involved, that their efforts were interlocked to a single purpose.
I’m hoping he gets it.
swoon – my heart of hearts wants Pi to win it all….my prayers usually go unanswered though…..but I will be thrilled with fellow Torontonian Mychael Danna winning and I will be a weepy mess if Ang Lee wins direction!
I know Life of Pi will not win best picture but after seeing all of the best picture nominees, I am certain that Pi is what one would call a directors movie. Not only was it difficult to transform from the book to the screen, every detail of all aspects of filmmaking has brilliantly made this film one of the most honest, soul searching, sense fulfilling storytelling films I’ve seen all year if not in recent years. Ang Lee is a humble genius who should win the best director oscar.
Whatever happens on Sunday, Life of Pi was one of the highpoints of my movie going in 2012. I can’t wait to see what Ang Lee does next. I hope it doesn’t take four years!
life of pi should win cinematography and t ‘s ;all.
Life of Pi is the movie that thrilled and moved me the most this year. Only Ang Lee could have made it. I still believe he deserves the best director award.
I am hoping Pi and Lee win the big two. [Probably end up predicting them both for the win as well – at least for the peace of mind.]
By the way, for those who are interested, at the end of the embedded clip, when done, on the upper left slot, *for the time being* there is another one also Pi-related that contains positive remarks on Lee and Pi by The King of The World HM James Cameron himself as well — in case you want to check it out. (There’s nothing spectacular, but his kind words matter in this case; after all, HM is the one responsible for creating another 3-D masterpiece such as Avatar [well, minus its screenplay, obviously…. lol].)

Thanks for embedding, Sasha.
The more this film wins, the happier I’ll be. Looks like it will win the most, tech or not.

That link should be played before Sunday night, for sure.
