It really is genius casting…she’s technically younger but seems much older. Girlfriend’s going to have to get down and dirty for this one. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Rosamund Pike is going to get the lead opposite Ben Affleck for David Fincher’s Gone Girl.
I would have gone with Charlize Theron for the female lead.
Anyone offering odds on whether Affleck will appear topless in this film?
Why the shit doesn’t Ben Affleck just stop acting? He’s so awful. Why the hell would Fincher choose him? I’ve never been less excited for a Fincher film thanks to Ben Affleck.
This book was so crazy, my mom is scared to see the movie but I think the roles are juicy! I hope they can pull it off but I’m not sure
She’s shown so much talent in smaller parts, but I’ve been waiting and waiting for Pike to get a big lead role. Really thrilled it’s for Fincher!
LOVE PIKE. I’m glad Fincher chose her
Rosamund Pike is talented and has proven in An Education and Pride & Prejudice that she can act. By picking her, Fincher yet again has proven that he follows his gut feeling. Affleck on the other hand, my god that is such a risk!
Affleck was forgetful in his own movie Argo and all the other masterpieces he has been casted in
My question to Fincher is: were Christian Bale, Paul Bettany, Josh Holloway, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Craig, Matthew Macfadyen, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Richard Armitage, Cillian Murphy, Eric Bana, Thomas Kretschmann, Marton Csokas, Ewan McGregor, Jeffrey Dean Morgan
not available?
But in David Fincher we trust, right fellow fanboys?
Such an unexpected and amazing choice… I’m glad she’s getting such a big break. I was afraid she would be playing thankless supporting roles forever. Well, until cable TV discovered her. Nice to see she’s getting a chance to shine.
Wait a minute. Isn’t she the one who never blinked in Jack Reacher? That bugged the hell out of me. I mean a major major distraction. It’s not a disorder is it? Because I’ll never sit through a movie with an actor or actress doing that bug eyed thing again.
(Thanks for updating, Sasha.)
I’ve just finished only one-fifth of the novel or so.
I love Rosamund Pike in Pride and Prejudice and I think Ms. Pike also is another one talented actress.
BUT at least at this point, I still can’t see her as Amy D…. (To begin with, I just can’t shed away her outlook image of being elegant and graceful, plus that amazing, posh British accent – to me, those traits just backfired….) (She sure has got the so-called Victorian face, as put by Nick in his own words though.)
That said, given my grievance : – ) I’m impressed that she’s finally made it as the director’s choice. I trust Fincher, in general. So, I suppose he knows what he’s doing and therefore am looking forward to proving me wrong about […] her.
As for the talented director — period! — Ben Affleck, I could imagine him being Nick on the surface, superficially. But whether or not this uuuuber talented Gigli uuuuberstar, as an actor, could possibly deliver — well, it remains to be seen……………………
(In my world, Rachel McAdams, as well as Amy Adams, would have been among the top shortlist for Amy………………………)
Why her?
Please Fincher pick someone like Rachel mcadams or Emily blunt or Keira knightley plssss!!
Ben Affleck is a very good filmmaker but a terrible actor, his wooden performance in Argo was a recent example. As for Pike, she might not be that bad but Fincher could’ve fished for his female lead in a little deeper waters.
I agree with you 100 percent on this. Affleck has proven to be a great director, but as an actor, he’s proven to be only decent. He wouldnt even be in my top 10 in consideration for this role. And Rosamund Pike, She’s alright, but why would they choose her when there is so many better actresses right now. David Fincher is one of my favorite directors, so I hope he can bring something interesting out of the two, and if he doesnt, they’ll be a stiff pair to watch.
I´m probably more a fan of Pike´s real life persona than her work on screen. Maybe it´s because she always picks semi-interesting projects. I do think she has talent and I have no doubt she will prove it with Fincher´s help but I´m still not convinced by Affleck. And the trailer for “Runner, Runner” doesn´t help at all.
Shame on me. I totally forgot about her performances in “An Education” and “Barny´s Version”. Great, great work but still why did she decide to make movies like “Johnny English”, “Jack Reacher” and “Wrath of the Titans” after that?
Likely because they pay the bills
I just finished the book yesterday and I really liked it. I think Pike could do a great job as Amy and Affleck could be a surprise as Nick. Now I hope they can get Emily Blunt to play Margo.
yeah i’m not too impressed with this casting. its fincher so clearly it could work but i just don’t think affleck and pike are that talented. too bad.
NPH would be great as Desi, I think. Tyler Perry as the cop? There aren’t too many characters, really.
You didn’t post that Fincher is looking at Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris for roles.
I sure hope not. Both of them would ruin the movie for me.
Neil Patrick Harris is awesome in everything, pure talent.
