Good for Renner, he deserved to be in something good after that Hansel and Gretel ridiculous movie.
Jennifer Lawrence looks good as a blowsy bimbo.
I love these people. 😀
The thing that’s great about Bale, besides the lengths he will go through for a role, is that when he’s funny, he’s truly funny. This trailer had me harkening back to his fantastic turn as Patrick Bateman. Of course good actors can do serious roles but I think it’s much more difficult to be funny. The great ones can do both of course. But the actors who can walk across the line between are really something special. IMO, Bale skates on it.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to return some videotapes.
yes. Not to mention his funny moments in The Fighter. He looks great in this, and not just playing De Niro
I am not a fan of David O. Russell. This looks terrible. I can feel comfortable that Amy Adams will not be going after Cate Blanchett’s Oscar 😉
All ten slots for BP nominees better be occupied this year. If not (and chances aren’t small for that), there will be an extra film by somebody somewhere that becomes a part of the on-the-outside-looking-in narrative. I suppose you could say that any year, but this year it seems even more unjustifiable than usual if these trailers are actually giving us a pretty accurate idea of things to come…
Another trailer that gives no clue what the film is about.
Really? It’s kind of obvious…
All this talk of 12 Years and Gravity is giving some BIG films an easy underdog narrative. I am looking forward to that 2nd trailer for Monuments Men. It may just get it back into Oscar picture.
Thinking it’s more of a screwball film in the vein of Ocean’s Eleven or Leatherheads vs. an awards contender.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we had zero WWII-set films in contention this year?
Speaking of…. Here’s ‘The Monuments Men’ trailer #2: http://youtu.be/JTBSKrW4K-E
Get the fuck out of here. The kind of trailer that gets seniors’ juices flowing. Trust me, I remember being at a noon show of MY WEEK WITH MARILYN (I know) when THE IRON LADY trailer came on, theater was packed of that demo, and they went nuts! This will have similar. What’s also clear to me though is his trailer is out for Oscars!!
OMG. Now I really dont know what to expect about Monuments Men. This trailer has a completely different tone than the first one. It`s confusing. Maybe the studio is confused too of how to sell this movie to the audience, I dont know.
But this new trailer screams desperation for awards.
The performances. This’ll be a winner.
I actually like the looks of J Law the most in this trailer. All this nonsense about being too young for the role does not wash with me. J Law could be thrown into the mix IMO.
OT:
Here’s an article from The Wall Street Journal with Marty Scorsese, Leo DiCaprio, and Jonah Hill on ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. In the article, it says the film will be released next month.

I saw that in some other publication too last night. Either they think they have a contender—or they *know* they don’t for some reason we can’t decipher yet and and just going through with the release especially considering all the hype.
Its not 6 woman for 5 spots best actress race is very competitive this year there’s at least 8-9 woman for 5 spots and I’ll best that the top 5 everybody is predicting doesn’t happen
Agree to disagree. Per usual
If that belly is real, Bale will sure get my extra point for his methodological devotion.
Love Amy Adams’ facial expressions. Despite nothing much of her performance shown here given the time limit, she still managed to shine.
If looks could kill, I’d be lying on the floor…. Oooh Barracuda….
And Bale’s performance also looks promising, plus that belly! Again, I need to know this: if it is real or not [makeup]…. [lol]
Oh…. I almost forgot: J-law is so hot.
It’s real! http://i.imgur.com/zFhnAsE.jpg

In Bale’s case, becoming a different person meant changing both his waistline and his hairline. Bale lost a significant amount of weight for his Oscar-winning role in Russell’s “The Fighter,” but he went the opposite route for “Hustle,” packing on a potbelly. Russell said to prepare for a role, “Christian goes off to his ‘Christian workshop,’ and he often comes back with his own concoction. He does what he needs to do to feel the character.” And that included learning how to craft an elaborate comb over with his own hair. “It takes time to meticulously construct,” Russell said. “It’s like a construction that people do everyday when they go to work… We filmed him doing it in real time, which was just kind of amazing watching him do it.”

@Monica,
I understand, he’s gained weight and been remarkably strategic with his hairline on-the-job. And while the pic featured over there in your #first# response to my comment — no offense — didn’t help in that sense because it basically depicts his larger (than his usual) build from the outside and nothing obvious about the stomach at all, the Yahoo link sure helps gain some more insights.
I will take the talented director’s words as yes, at least for now. [No sarcasm]
Anyway, no matter what the truth thanks for getting out of your way for this. Appreciate that.
Cheers.
Amy Adams FTW. Fifth nomination coming right up.
She is the big question mark left for Best Actress. If she does, in fact, give a fantastic performance, who the hell is gonna be left out of the best actress nominations? I think it’s ultimately 6 women for 5 spots:
Blanchett
Bullock
Dench
Thompson
Streep
Adams
I also see those 6 Actresses as the frontrunners for a nomination! But i have my doubts that Sandra Bullock, Emma Thompson, Amy Adams, Meryl Streep or Judi Dench can beat Cate Blanchett! She was and she is the frontrunner in the Leading Actress race! But we will see! Last year i thought that Jennifer Lawrence had no chance and we all know how the Season ended!
Fantastic. Jennifer Lawrence is too young for the part in 3, 2, 1….
Is Christian Bale going all the way with this one or with OUT OF THE FURNACE? Cuz based on the glimpses, I’d advice he stay right here.
Good question and I have no answer. He looks pretty damn good in both.
Jlaw too young in 3-2-1…
What does this mean????
Renner’s hair alone deserves some kind of award.
