Looks like Nevada keeps all the acting awards to an all American group, completely shutting off the great Cate Blanchett!
Oh yes, from my dear beloved state. No less than 6 people, one two three four five six, came up with these winners! Congrats anyhow! No fun facts for this one Ryan?
Nine features will advance to the next round of voting in the Foreign Language Film category for the 86th Academy Awards®. Seventy-six films had originally been considered in the category.
The films, listed in alphabetical order by country, are:
Belgium, “The Broken Circle Breakdown,” Felix van Groeningen, director;
Bosnia and Herzegovina, “An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker,” Danis Tanovic, director;
Cambodia, “The Missing Picture,” Rithy Panh, director;
Denmark, “The Hunt,” Thomas Vinterberg, director;
Germany, “Two Lives,” Georg Maas, director;
Hong Kong, “The Grandmaster,” Wong Kar-wai, director;
Hungary, “The Notebook,” Janos Szasz, director;
Italy, “The Great Beauty,” Paolo Sorrentino, director;
Palestine, “Omar,” Hany Abu-Assad, director.
Waiit, whoops, Cate Blanchett should’ve won.
This is a solid list of what I like to see.
I’m glad Frozen, Jared, and Matt won. Oh, and of course the lovely Jennifer Lawrence. Shes going head to head with Lupita for sure for sure!
Sweet The hobbiy wins production design and emmanuel lubezki forma gravity wins cinenatography.

‘atta girl, Meryl!
With all the awards love for Leto and McConaughey, and the SAG ensemble nom, I’m staring to think that DBC will get a Best Pic nomination. Anyone with me?
Yet another 12YAS/Cuaron split. I’ve never seen critics split these two categories so many times in one year. Will AMPAS find a different way to reward Cuaron? Won’t he be eligible in Editing?
Joao, I think Michael Fassbender has a decent shot at winning. But Jared Leto’s performance sounds like a real scene-stealer, the likes of which the Academy can’t resist rewarding. My money’s currently on Leto.
It’s just me or despite him being the frontrunner even before the Oscar nominations, with all these critics awards, more people believe that Michael Fassbender could easily win (again, assuming that he will be nominated), surfing on what is going to be the “12 Years As a Slave” bandwagon at the Academy Awards?
