Thanks to Jazz Tangcay for finding several new stills from Into the Woods.
Brand new photos from the forthcoming Rob Marshall directed Into The Woods have been released. It’s our first real look at the characters, and we even get a glimpse of the Wolf played by Johnny Depp.
Take a look at the new stills featuring Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Christine Baranski, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep as The Witch. –JT
Here’s a fan-made teaser trailer that I first thought was the real deal — and I’m really relieved it’s not.
I honestly can’t take anyone seriously who judges a film based on its trailer.
Um, the entire trailer is on iTunes

One thing that hadn’t occurred to me before is that one of the main things unadventurous people hate about musicals is the unreality of the singing. Perhaps, just perhaps, these tools will be able to accept the singing in this fantasy world.
Like the great David Ehrenstein always said, “I can’t believe people don’t sing MORE.”

as opposed to the reality of The Avengers, etc.
I agree Ricky. Into the Woods is pretty much universally loved. Which is pretty hard for any musical (or work of art) – It’s the rarest of artistic endeavors, completely accessible, imaginative, inventive and profound. I like other Sondheims more, but this one, by any measure is pure genius.
But I had high hopes for Sweeney Todd. So I’m still not all the way on the bus here, but at least it’s being made by a fan of musicals whose life work is in musicals, unlike that hack Tim Burton who cut out the amazing four part harmonies that made Sweeney Todd’s score one of the great works of the 20th Century.
The source material is just so freaking good, they would have to epically screw up for it to at least not be good.
Nine is a good musical and turned out awful, but its source material (not 8 1/2, Nine) is like a 7/10 (at best) compared to Into the Woods’ 10/10.
I’m one of the few that liked Les Mis, but I have a soft spot for that show. Many people don’t like the show or the movie, but find me someone who doesn’t like Into the Woods and I’ll show you either a liar or someone that hasn’t seen it/read it/listened to it/studied it.
I love Anna Kendrick, but that’s as far as I’ll go. This abomination looks like 13 Academy Award nominations.
From a production aspect it looks visually beautiful. Costume are great. As a Streep fan I remain hopeful.
A musical and they keep putting out stills? It’s like when they say someone has a face for radio.
*sigh*
At least we know Kendrick can handle her end.
My fears around this adaptation are definitely cooled. The teaser trailer coming out this weekend will be very telling of how I feel about this.
that’s not the real teaser trailer. The first teaser trailer will come out this week!
That’s a fan made
NNN, thanks! whew, that’s a relief.

Like I said, I am hoping (maybe against hope) that this teaser is fake. Very underwhelming.
Here’s the real one http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/disney/intothewoods/
