Nars cometics has chosen Tilda Swinton to be the face of their spring 2015 collection. ||
Says US Weekly:
In the campaign poster, shot by Nars’ Founder and Creative Director, Francois Nars, Swinton, 53, flaunts her flawless ivory skin—and little else. She’s wearing barely any makeup, save for nude gloss on her lips and black eyeliner below her ice blue eyes. The British rogue’s platinum pixie is windswept above her, while a cloud of black netting frames her face and bare shoulders.
“As a photographer, working with an actress like Tilda is very enjoyable,” said Nars in a press statement announcing the collaboration. “She is a living legend. I love her bold style and really admire her work. As an actress, she brings such strong personality to the camera. And as a woman, she lives the experience of transformation and expression. She was the perfect choice for Nars.”
The question is, with Only Lovers Left Alive actress modeling such little makeup—and so few bright colors, which are a signature of the brand—what will the Swinton-fronted collection include? If the campaign image is any indication, hopefully products for pristine skin like the actress’ to start!
There’s no one like her. She’s a true original, and a great actress. I try to catch everything she’s in.
I agree with the comment above about her performance in “Snowpiercer”. I hope AMPAS makes room for her in the Best Supporting Actress category. She is unforgettable in that movie.
Then again, they ignored her stupendous work in “We Need To Talk About Kevin” a couple years ago. I’m still scratching my head over her exclusion that year.
While I love how much Tilda Swinton is being hailed for her daring, histrionic Snowpiercer performance… I’d like to point out, the movie’s Evans. Chris Evans is becoming really overdue for some recognition, and Snowpiercer is a showcase of his talent and ra(n)ge, a star-making turn, if he wasn’t a star already… his monologue, remembering his first weeks on the train was probably the movie’s best moment, in a film where you have some amazing twist and turn every 5 minutes.
This also reminds me how good is Marvel doing on casting, the actors chosen to play Marvel Studios characters are not only well chosen, they nail their performances, becoming the characters in a way only Heath Ledger, Hugh Jackman and Christopher Reeve succeeded before, on the superhero-verse… Downey Jr, Hiddlestone, Evans, Hemsworth, Johansson… it’s hard now to think of those roles, recasted.
Back on the topic, Snowpiercer has already surpassed 4 million dollars US domestic b.o. That may give it a chance for the distributor to think of some campaigning for Swinton and technicals, thinking on a bluray release on Oscar season. The film already made a LOT of money worldwide, nearly 87 million, so it depends how ambtious they are, or if they consider the film has already covered its budget… but with the potential of this film becoming a cult film, waiting to be “discovered” by masses… I’d bet as a producer, in giving it a last try and push an ambitious campaign for awards season, see what happens.
She is so stunning. I loved her in Only Lovers Left Alive, and really liked that whole movie. I’d like to see her get a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for that role.
Hopefully she shows up in the Supporting Actress race again this year, she was terrific in Snowpiercer.
Wow!
Hard to believe it’s been almost 30 years since we first saw this magical person – Caravaggio, 1986. She’s always kept her own beat, never compromised her standards onscreen or off, and still managed to be successful and respected and land an Oscar.
What becomes a legend most? – yer lookin at it.
That face is the T!
