It’ll be interesting to see if this year breaks the recent pattern of the US Dramatic Grand Jury prize getting a BP Oscar nomination every other year.
2015: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
2014: Whiplash*
2013: Fruitvale Station
2012: Beasts of the Southern Wild*
2011: Like Crazy
2010: Winter’s Bone*
2009: Precious*
2008: Frozen River
Yay for Don Hertzfeldt!!
No big surprise on that front. Me & Earl & The Dying Girl was the breakout Sundance hit this year with critics and audiences, and with Fox Searchlight behind it we’ll probably be hearing about it all year.
