Moretti?!?!
I’m starting to think The Lobster has a shot at a screenplay nomination. And Colin Farrell at the Globes.
THE LOBSTER AND COLIN FARRELL ARE SOOOOOO GOOD. It frustrates me so much that there’s no US distribution for this film, easily one of the year’s best.
Alchemy is releasing it in 2016:

Where is Son of Saul?
I was thinking the same thing.
Son of Saul wasn’t even on the Longlist of the European Film Academy (EFA):
http://europeanfilmawards.eu/en_EN/selection-current
Maybe the EFA members from Hungary voted instead for “The Duke of Burgundy” by Peter Strickland, which was shot in Hungary. In the 20 European countries with the highest number of EFA
Members these members vote directly for one film
from among the national feature. In a second turn the EFA Board and a group of experts appointed by the Board are chosing 20-30 more films.
Producers of European films whose films are not among the recommended
films can make their films available to the
EFA Members by VOD. In 2008 the producers of “I’ve Loved You So Long” used this backdoor and Kristin Scott Thomas won her well deserved Best Actress Award. Maybe the Producers of “Son of Saul” failed here.
I really loved Youth! I hope it can make it to the Oscars, as well as its cast! And 45 years!
PIGEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOBSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SILENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So happy 45 years got a couple noms, I just saw it this morning and it was wonderful. Also excited to see look of silence nominated for documentary, I’m seeing it tomorrow!
Wow, Spanish films, completely shut out… I was guessing Maribel Verdú could have earned the nom for “Happy 140” or “Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el Cachondo” had a longshot chance for Best Comedy (also the french animated “Asterix & The Mansion of Gods”, which is hilarious). But Youth becomes the frontrunner, I think
Rams! Yes!! Hope it continues to get recognized.
If 13 Minutes deserves to turn up anywhere, it’s for Christian Friedel, but that truly is a piss-poor attempt at a prestige pic, and surely the EFA voters could have come up with something better.
What these nominations confirm after the BIFA nominations is that The Lobster is going down very well with European awards voters, and that Youth has some serious potential, as I’d expected!
Paddy, you HAVE to see The Lobster. It’s so fucking good.
Seen it, aye it’s grand.
