Venice Film Festival Announces Full Line-Up

Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, Terrence Malick and Mel Gibson are all going to Venice. The film festival which runs from August 31-September 10 will also showcase Denis Vileneuve’s Arrival as well as Jackie which stars Natalie Portman and is directed by Pablo Larrain.

Mel Gibson brings Hacksaw Ridge to Venice and stars Andrew Garfield as an army medic on the front lines evacuating soldiers who have been wounded from behind enemy lines. The first trailer for the World War II film was released earlier today and will open on November 4.

La La Land will open the festival on opening night. La La Land stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a jazz artist who falls for an aspiring actress. The film is already generating awards buzz thanks to its cast, and Chazelle. Sam Mendes will head the jury.
