MTV announced the nominations for the Video Music Awards on Tuesday afternoon, and Kendrick Lamar's "HUMBLE." was honored with the most nominations, including Video of the Year. Like this year's MTV Movie & TV Awards, MTV continued with non-gendered categories. Instead of Male and Female Video of the Year, there is now an Artist of the Year category. The VMAs also borrowed Best Fight Against the System to honor work that fights social injustice. Yes, Shailene Woodley is now nominated for an Emmy and a VMA in the same year.
Audiences and fans can go to www.vma.mtv.com to vote in 9 of the current categories. Song of the summer nominees will be announced at a later date.
The MTV VMAs will be presented live from The Forum in Inglewood, California on August 27 at 8 pm/ET.
