Today marks the start of the 2017 Emmy® Phase 2 voting system. Here’s an overview of what to expect as the Television Academy casts their final votes.
So, it’s all come down to this. The Television Academy begins casting their final votes today for the 2017 Emmy season. Over the next two weeks, Awards Daily TV will offer For Your Consideration posts, nominee interviews, and Emmy analysis. Final voting ends August 28. Remember that voters do not rank their choices as in previous years. No pesky preferential ballot here. Instead, the highest vote winner takes home the trophy. In effect, it really is a popularity contest. For a refresher course, check out Jalal’s voting explanation from a few weeks back.
So, will Stranger Things – the one series most everyone has likely seen – prevail? Does this system benefit the emotional heft of This Is Us? Will Westworld triumph after receiving the most nominations of the year (tying with Saturday Night Live). We’ll offer our opinions and analysis over the new few weeks to help shape the race.
Plus, now’s your chance to vote on Awards Daily TV’s very own version of the Emmys. Check out the Coolie Awards and vote for your favorites!
The fun all ends September 9 and 10 with the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony and on September 17 in the Primetime Emmy ceremony.
Until then…
