Detroit Film Critics Announce Winners Florida Project Wins Best Picture, Director and Supporting Actor. Franco Takes Best Actor

The Detroit Film Critics Society announced their winners this morning with Sean Baker’s The Florida Project winning three out of its four nominations including Best Picture, Baker won for Best Director, and Willem Dafoe continues on his winning streak with Best Supporting Actor.

Best Actress went to Frances McDormand for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Allison Janney won Best Supporting Actress for I, Tonya. The Disaster Artist’s James Franco scooped Best Actor.

Founded in Spring 2007, the Detroit Film Critics Society consists of a group of nineteen film critics with a Michigan connection who write or broadcast in the Detroit area as well as other major cities including Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Flint, Michigan; Toledo, Ohio; and New York City.

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE

Winner: The LEGO Batman Movie

BEST USE OF MUSIC

Winner: Baby Driver
