SCAD Announces Entertainment Weekly as First Official Media Partner for 2019 SCAD aTVfest

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Jan. 11, 2018 — The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) today announced that Entertainment Weekly (EW) will serve as the first ever Official Media Partner for the 2019 SCAD aTVfest in Atlanta. Now in its seventh year, the university’s annual signature event celebrating the television industry will be held at SCADshow in Atlanta February 7-9, 2019.

As the Official Media Partner for SCAD aTVfest, EW will help program and moderate select talent panels, along with hosting a photo and video studio where talent will create exclusive content to run across EW’s print, digital and social platforms.

“SCAD is proud to partner once again with industry leader Entertainment Weekly to share the best of television and highlight its future at SCAD aTVfest,” said SCAD president and founder Paula Wallace. “SCAD degree programs prepare the brightest and best, and SCAD alumni are working as directors, writers, actors, motion media artists, and in every other aspect of television.”

“Entertainment Weekly has been admiring SCAD aTVfest for years in our role as press, moderator, and fan, but this year we are incredibly excited to be involved as the official media partner,” said Henry Goldblatt, Editor in Chief of Entertainment Weekly. “With EW’s connections in the TV industry and aTVfest’s commitment to presenting an unparalleled experience for fans and talent alike, I hope we can stage what will become the preeminent TV festival in the country.”

SCAD’s premier School of Entertainment Arts program creates world-class, industry-ready talent that not only fills a need in Georgia, but the industry nationwide, through top ranked film and television degree programs. The university’s president and founder, Paula Wallace, was recently honored with the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter “President’s Award”, recognizing exemplary achievement within the TV and Digital Media industries.

More than 8,100 SCAD students and alumni work in the fields of animation, entertainment, motion pictures, media production, writing, editing, broadcast media and performing arts, with over 2,800 in Georgia alone. The program’s unique project-based approach to film, TV and performing arts provides SCAD students a distinct advantage before they graduate with unparalleled access to industry tools, experts and life-changing opportunities—from cross-disciplinary collaborations that mirror major film and TV productions to acclaimed Academy- and Oscar-award winning faculty, including D.W. Moffett, Craig Anton and Geoffrey Fletcher, among others. Last year, more than 70 SCAD alumni worked on Oscar-nominated films as production designers, sound designers, graphic designers, producers, actors and more. In fact, nearly one dozen SCAD graduates worked on one of the year’s top blockbusters, Black Panther.
