Will Judith Light finally win an Emmy for playing Shelly Pfefferman in the series finale of Transparent?
Transparent has always been an incredibly poignant experience, but the series finale looks like it’s going to deliver the most emotional episode yet. As reported earlier, Transparent will conclude with a 2 hour musical–excuse me, musicale–finale, but we finally get a teaser on what that looks like.
Since Jeffrey Tambor won’t be in the finale, it’s confirmed that Maura Pfefferman has died–something we already knew, but details on this finale have been few and far between. It does appear, however, that the rest of the Pfefferman clan deal with their grief in a over-the-top, glittery way by singing out their feelings. It appears that some numbers will be performed on stage by Judith Light’s Shelly, but there are quick shots of technicolor dancing.
The biggest question is whether Judith Light will finally win an Emmy for playing Shelly. She should have won when she was nominated for Transparent‘s third season finale as a woman realizing her worth. Kate McKinnon won this category the previous year, so she shouldn’t have repeated to allow Light to win. Maybe this will also shake-up the stale TV Movie category as well? The teaser definitely shows us that Shelly is willing and able to do anything for her performance. Hold on right, guys.

Transparent will debut its finale this fall.
