Watch this Awards Daily exclusive clip of Naomi Watts in Luce.
The psychological thriller is about an all-star high school athlete and accomplished debater, Luce (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) who is a poster boy for the new American Dream. As are his parents (Naomi Watts and Tim Roth), who adopted him from a war-torn country a decade earlier. When Luce’s teacher (Octavia Spencer) makes a shocking discovery in his locker, Luce’s stellar reputation is called into question. But is he really at fault, or is Ms. Wilson preying on dangerous stereotypes?
Luce is out on August 2.
The cast is being praised by critics but a quick look at RT states that the standout seems to be Octavia Spencer. Smelling another nomination for her, for Luce, adding to the fact that she showed range this year with “Ma”, in which, again, she was praised even if the film was dissed. Hollywood seems to be in love with her (understandably, she is a great actress). Smelling nomination #4 for her, and probably getting close to become the first african american woman to get a 2nd Oscar in competition.
My thoughts exactly. Definitely see her getting nominated and who knows a win isn’t out the picture either! Well see..
