Megan’s back at the Water Cooler, and we’re looking harder at the upcoming Golden Globes nominations! This week, we tackle the Comedy Golden Globes races in film and television. On the TV side, will Fleabag continue its Emmy dominance and impress the Hollywood Foreign Press Association? Can it break the late-breaking Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 3? Or will Barry, Russian Doll, or even Schitt’s Creek jump into the mix? In the acting races, are new performances from Kirsten Dunst (On Becoming a God in Central Florida) or Ben Platt (The Politician) front runners? And on the film side, is it a Jojo Rabbit versus Once Upon a Time in Hollywood race? Will Cats break into the comedy/musical top five?
But first, we cover recent films we’ve seen in the lead-up to the lucrative Thanksgiving week box office. We also lock down our Fantasy Oscar picks just as the major critics and guilds groups start weighing in.
We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
And we at the Water Cooler Podcast wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Thanks for listening and thank you, in advance, for subscribing and rating us on Apple Podcasts!
For years you’ve been making jokes about Florence Pugh’s name. It’s incredibly cringe inducing and embarrassing to you all.
It’s done out of love. We all respect her incredible talents as an actress. But yes, it’s a silly joke. Most of our jokes are.
Disagreed somewhat with your take on Irishman, but enjoyed the podcast nevertheless. It’s a joy when I can indulge in some podcasts over Thanksgiving break. We go back to school Tuesday.
HELP, I AM BANNED AND CANNOT MAKE ANY MORE POSTS. I didn’t say anything bad. I already wrote Ryan an email, so hopefully this is just an unfortunate glitch. Wasn’t I ingenious in getting into another post to edit?
I really liked the directing, editing, and performances in The Irishman. It’s my second favorite movie of the year so far after “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” I would have a hard time deciding on director and supporting actor between Pacino and Pitt. I like that it’s on Netflix so I can watch it multiple times in the future. I also want to check out other movies like Rebel without a Cause or Social Network. I liked this break but look forward to going back to school tomorrow.
Hey Julie, did you like The Irishman?
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you had a very good day. 🙂
Discredit Kristen Bell at your own peril. She’s the lead actress in the #1 movie on the planet until December 13 (when Jumanji: The Next Level displaces Frozen II), and she’s had a wonderful final season of The Good Place (another 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes).
