Terence Blanchard, 6-time Grammy winner and Oscar nominee, received the 2019 Distinguished Film Composer Award at this year’s Middleburg Film Festival. At the event, Blanchard attended an orchestral performance of his exquisite score to Kasi Lemmons fall crowd favorite Harriet. The score is a hot contender for this year’s Oscar for Best Original Score.
Blanchard received six Grammys for his work in the jazz instrumental solo realm. He received his most recent Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition for “Blut Und Boden (Blood And Soil).” He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score last year for Spike Lee’s acclaimed BlacKkKlansman.
