Supernova looks to be another in a long line of great acting performances by both Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. UPDATE: Colin Firth is LEAD and Stanley Tucci is supporting. Here is the trailer and synopsis.
It is deep Autumn and Sam and Tusker, partners of twenty years, are on holiday. They are travelling across England in their old campervan visiting friends, family and places from their past. Since Tusker was diagnosed with young-onset dementia two years ago their lives have had to change. Jobs have been given up and plans put on hold. Their time together is now the most important thing they have. As the trip progresses however, their individual ideas for their future begin to collide. Secrets are uncovered, private plans unravel and their love for each other is tested like never before. Ultimately, they must confront the question of what it means to love one another in the face of Tusker’s irreparable illness. Written and directed by Harry Macqueen (Hinterland), and from the award-winning producers of 45 Years and I Am Not A Witch.
both of them deserve awards. colin firth is still one of the best. wish he would do more movies like tumbledown

Based on how well the trailer is, I can see this being an awards vehicle.
Unfortunately, unlike Hillbily Elegy, I can’t see any urgency to awards them. Macqueen is a new writer/director, Tucci not the most overdue, Firth is awarded already, and the topic is kinda redundant and not the most urgent in the current climate.
Tucci might has the best shot. A bit surprise he’s in supporting.
we’ve been there already and it did not work out (Love is Strange: Alfred Molina & John Lithgow). I am afraid that Brokeback Mountain and Carol got their lovers nominated thanks to the heavy Best Picture buzz… so, unless begins to be buzzed for Best Picture, I am afraid that neither Tucci nor Firth (he already got a nom for playing a gay man, by the way, in “A Single Man”) will make the cut, but they will probably be close.
I have been excited about this one since last year, surprised to hear Tucci is lead though–I had thought supporting.
