Awards Daily presents an exclusive look at the original song from the award-winning film CODA, “Beyond the Shore.” Performed by star Emilia Jones, the song was co-written by Nicholai Baxter, Matt Dahan, director Sian Heder, and composer Marius de Vries. In this clip, Jones, Heder, and de Vries talk about their personal connections to the song and to the film.
“The last moment of the film when Ruby does this [signs]: it is both her name sign and it also means ‘I love you forever,’ ” Heder explains in the clip. “The idea of the song was a continuation of that sentiment. When I thought about this song, there was a double meaning. CODA means ‘child of deaf adults.’ It also is the end of a piece of music. In a way, we were writing the coda to CODA.”
CODA streams exclusively on AppleTV+.
