Alex Garland Returns to the Big Screen with ‘Men’ Starring Jessie Buckley: Watch the Trailer

After taking a side-trip into television with the excellent FX limited series Devs, the writer and director of sci-fi standouts Ex-Machina and Annihilation will be back in theaters on May 20th with his newest offering: Men. The first trailer is a teaser in the truest form. The newly-minted Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley approaches a dark tunnel in a forest, and from there, the vibe gets weirder and scarier.

Little is known about the A24 film beyond it’s basic premise, which IMDB describes thusly:

A young woman goes on a solo vacation in the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband.

Also of note, aside from Buckley, there are only two other known cast members: Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu. Whatever Garland is up to with Men may not be clear, but if past performance is any indication, the film is likely to be both highbrow and harrowing.
