Class in session at Critics Choice! The CCA announced the nominees for the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards, and the Television Academy could learn a thing or two about some of these categories.
Abbott picked up acting nominations for Quinta Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, and Tyler James Williams. While The White Lotus dominated this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, only Jennifer Coolidge picked up a nomination for the obsessed-over second season. Murray Bartlett, who won for Mike White’s first season picked up another nomination for Hulu’s Welcome to Chippendales. Fans of FX’s The Bear will be happy to see nominations for Comedy Series, Actor in a Comedy for Jeremy Allan White, and Supporting Actress in a Comedy for Ayo Edebiri. Will FX stick with comedy categories as the season progresses or will they switch to Drama Series given some of the series’ heavier episodes? Netflix’s The Crown only picked up a Drama Series nomination–no acting mentions.
I personally love seeing the late, great Leslie Jordan pick up a nomination for Call Me Kat as well as Daniel Radcliffe for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story for The Roku Channel. Ghosts picked up 2 nominations for Comedy Series and Supporting Actor for Brandon Scott Jones.
