AMC’s Better Call Saul and The Bear led the pack at the 2023 Writers Guild of America television award nominations. Saul received two bids in the episodic drama category in addition to drama series. The Bear received mention in the new series category in addition to its nominations for comedy series and episodic comedy.
ABC’s Abbott Elementary continues its march through the winter awards season with multiple mentions. The Emmy-winning series received nominations for new series and comedy series, although it was omitted from the episodic comedy lineup in favor of Grace and Frankie, The Bear, Julia, What We Do in the Shadows, Hacks, and Reservoir Dogs.
