6 more hours to cast your ballot!
It’s all come down to this. Here’s our final ballot. By now we know the drill.
Remember, this ballot should reflect your own personal favorites. Sasha will have a separate ballot for the Oscar Predictions Contest.
Deadline is Thursday, March 9 at 10PM PDT.
(Thanks again for all you do, Dr. Rob!)

“Original Screenplay: The Fabelmans”
OMG, I love you! 🙂 10,000 upvotes! I thought I was the only one… I moved it into first in my original screenplay rankings after the rewatch and thinking about it some more. I’d had Banshees in there, before.
The film in general rose for me a bit on rewatch (for example, in my top 10 of the year it moved from eighth to perhaps even third) and especiialy it felt like the screenplay was somewhat undeniable. It doesn’t have the showy dialogue of The Banshees of Inisherin or TÁR (which was my choice out of this lineup before the Fabelmans rewatch) but I eventually kind of feel like it’s the one that’s bursting with fascinating ideas and manages to do it in a way that seems very effortless and clean
“it’s the one that’s bursting with fascinating ideas and manages to do it in a way that seems very effortless and clean”
EXACTLY! So many incredible scenes, and decidedly not solely because of the way they’re shot+acted… First viewing, I wasn’t sure it all cohered enough, but, on rewatch, yeah, it does. Big time.
And, wow, third! I LOVE it!… It’s second for me, behind Till, which I imagine isn’t in your top… 50?! 🙂
Yes. Though I liked Deadwyler’s performance, I found Till overall to be somewhat middling. There’s something about Chukwu’s directing that doesn’t quite work for me (as I felt rather similarly about Clemency)
I thought it was strong in all aspects, directing included. 🙂 Tastes differ, as they often do, for us. (Which is why it’s so interesting and fun to see when they do converge, as with Spielberg’s latest.)

Are you the one they call “BAFTA”? 🙂 Seriously, though, some very nice picks in there.
I wanted to share the wealth with The Fabelmans but I was worried I might pick the “wrong” categories, voting for one where the other may be stronger, so I decided to go all in with All Quiet since I already had Spielberg for Directing (absent Berger). Having been the alleged frontrunner for this category all season and being the forebearer and standard bearer of modern filmmaking, I figured he was the logical choice for those who still hope to defeat the Daniels.
I also hesitated greatly for the acting categories. My heart was leaning towards Williams, Condon and Keoghan but I figured the veterans may stand a better chance, and I also noticed a “fun” thing: Banshees and EEAAO both have their heroes in lead and villains in supporting, one in the male categories, the other in the female ones, so I decided to go with Farrell vs. Gleeson and Yeoh vs. Lee Curtis.
“Banshees and EEAAO both have their heroes in lead and villains in supporting, one in the male categories, the other in the female ones”
🙂 That’s a fun spot!…
EEAaO – 10
Banshees – 1
Tár – 1
Women Talking – 1
Other BP nominees – 0
The Batman – 3
Babylon – 1
What did TAR win..?
Cinematography!
Nice but I wish it was director 🙂
If you told me a year ago that I would not be voting for a) a Blanchett tour de force, b) Blanchett’s second leading actress win and c) Todd Field’s return to the awards race, I would have said you were crazy.
Wow really spreading the wealth here lmao
Yeah, I’m generous that way.
It’s an EEAAO stan. What did you expect?

Oops, Nevermind, I was trying to click on the pretty picture and barely noticed the blue link “final ballot” underneath. (I am leaving this here in case I am not the only dumbass.)
It took me ages to find it too!
Not sure why we need to rank all 10 BP nominees; if 2nd place is the first loser…
I posted the analysis of all rules and precedents for the PGA win (looked at many new things, compared to years past) and the resulting predictions, here:
https://www.awardsdaily.com/2023/02/23/oscars-2023-producers-guild-preview-and-predictions/
I almost went the way of the BAFTAs and chose Condon for Supporting Actress, but decided Hsu was better. Like her costars, she played a bunch of different characters and knocked in out of the park.
Farrell, Yeoh, Hsu, and Quay for the acting categories. Except for Quay, I don’t think any of them will win, and even his support is seemingly faltering.
For Best Picture: EEAAO, Banshees, Triangle of Sadness, were my top three and Elvis was EASILY the worst of the bunch.
What is the deadline on this? I am trying to watch every film with a nomination before voting and still have 10 to go including 5 shorts and tell it like a woman which I’m very unlikely to see. It probably won’t happen though because most of them actually aren’t available in any capacity here yet.
Not sure yet!
I’ll find out for us this afternoon.
Tuesday, March 7 at 11PM PDT
I went for TÁR in the top categories including Editing and Cinematography. No alternative.
and I went for All Quiet on the Western Front for the remaining ones..!
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d92c8eb61134967d1b753c3712121ee380212dc52e6fbb95e42ebba1671105b3.jpg
Also went for Tár for editing and cinematography!
I spread the wealth a little bit more. Went with Tar in Picture, Director, Actress and Cinematography, Banshees in Screenplay, Top Gun in Editing and All Quiet in Adapted, Sound and International.
Picture: 1) Triangle of sadness 2)Tár 3) Banshees. Directorr: Field . Acting: Farrell / Blanchett / Keoghan / Condon. Original S: Triangle of sadness, Adapted S: Women talking.
When is the deadline for voting?
I wasn’t sure if “The Favelmans” was a re-release edit by someone talented but I assumed it was a typo. Hope I didn’t screw up the results!
Reminds me that the true Best Picture of 2022, Dream Video Division’s Seabizkit, was shamefully ignored after it wowed at TIFF…
Please Vote. Unless you want to get pistol-whipped by Jane Russell. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7f40eb80ec63ab9f36f6f71b81098e0eafbb6639702765f60b932cf09f712be7.jpg
