The Substance
This is a real drag in terms of the Oscars because many of these films were not only predicted to be nominated but also to win, like Conclave, for starters, or The Substance. This will be one of those years where the WGA will different wildly from the Oscar nominations.
It does open the door for films on the bubble to get some recognition that otherwise would not, so that’s the upside.
