Jack Nicholson may be one of the few high profile celebrities supporting Hillary Clinton.  Does it make Hillary more sexy? Does sexy mean anything anyway?

But can it really compete with vids like this?

esto es un enga?o, yo había comprado un par de color blanco y otro par de color azul pero el vendedor envió los dos pares de zapatos de color blanco! ademas dudo que sean originales puesto que el material se ve de baja calidad.
Oh… Your blog used to be nice, but now it’s spoiled. Stop posting trash like that or stop posting at all.
I suppose very few Americans know where Iraq is…
Does Jessica Alba even know where Iraq is?
It’s like the difference between the Obama and Huckabee change. I’m all for change, if it doesn’t fuck things up.
Free and RAA wonders . . .
Change is needed. The Oscars need change. Wouldn’t it be great if we could pull everyone together and change the Oscars? We have the power. All we have to do is change. We shouldn’t fear change. Hope comes from change. AMPAS and Hollywood is fearing what power the American people have. The Oscars are in desperate need of Change. Change is something to hope for. It’s an audacious concept. The Audacity of Change. The Audacity of Hope.
Rob
Damn, that’s a good Obama ad.
RRA I totally, completely agree. MSN had a story today about revamping the Oscars, basically just getting opinions from people who wanted to change it to a 2-hour show that was based on star power and not the films. I think that would be WAYYYYY stupid. I understand ratings, but who gives a fuck if the Transformers crowd isn’t excited about the Oscars? You really care if the Fool’s Gold crowd watches your show? It’s not for them, it’s for people like us. And if you just had only stars, how would people like Cotillard be able to use their wins as launching pads for their careers?
I’m all for changing the show for the better, particularly if we can do 2hrs. But not at the expense of good films and performers (including docs) just to appease the crowd of people who ONLY like stupid movies.
Obama will win Texas…Ohio, maybe not.
On another topic. Definitely Maybe is sugar-coated romantic schlock, but Rachel Weitz is lovely in it. I liked the entire cast. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A DUMB MOVIE BEING SUPREMELY ENJOYABLE. SCREW “the so-called MASTERPIECES.”
God, are we still bitching about the AMPAS not nominating better movies?
What you all prefer, TRANSFORMERS for Best Picture?
Give me a fucking break.
Now if CASINO ROYALE and THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM had been up for their perspective years, then maybe there would be an argument.
But TRANSFORMERS? Fuck Michael Bay, Fuck that Argument.
Hillary doing SNL and DAILY SHOW….man, imagine if she wasn’t such a tight-wounded woman (or another word that rhymes with “witch”) and had done this earlier.
Now it seems desperate as hell….as her campaign is at this point.
Thing is, Obama did both already…so to me, that’s cooler.
Of course, McCain hosted SNL before him…*grumbles*
great ads. I love Jack, but Obama is the man.
Ryan,
That would be a change. Unrealistic, but a change.
Still love ya.
Rob
“I cannot imagine Republicans in Congress giving Obama everything he wants.”
Simplest Solution: No Republicans in Congress.
How’s that for change?
Obama’s ad is better. I don’t recognize the majority of people in it. But it is well done. Flashy, stylized, but no real substance.
I don’t know what Obama’s record is. I do know Clinton’s and McCain’s. Obama was elected Senator in ’04 and started running in ’06. In those two years, I can’t figure out what has he championed. But hey, he’s for change. He’s for bringing Democrats and Republicans together (a uniter not a divider), but heaven knows how he will do this. I cannot imagine Republicans in Congress giving Obama everything he wants. It is going to be stalemate after stalemate.
But let’s get this back to the Oscars. This year they sucked. I loved No Country, but most of America hasn’t even seen it, based on it’s box office. The Movies with the four acting awards average $40 million gross. American Idol had just about the same amount of viewers as the Oscars. The Oscars are broken. Hollywood is broken. Things need to change. The AMPAS needs to have a requirement of $100,000,000 at the box office, or at least 10,000,000 tickets sold. That’s the change that the AMPAS needs. Change. Hollywood is broken. AMPAS needs to change. Change. It’s a wonderful word. Change. AMPAS need change. Hollywood needs change. America needs change. Wow. Change.
As silly as all that sounds it does illustrate that change for change sake is misguided. For change to work, details need to be provided to the people in a reasonable manner. Barrack has not offered details. He offers change, just change.
Rob
P.S. Nixon offered change in Vietnam with his “Secret Plan.” It worked and he became out 37th President.
Forget Kerry Washington, Regina King is HOT. Check those arms!
Also forget her,
that’s Tyra and Landry!
Oh, Hottest of them all: Troy Garrity–he’s the one with the poster.
boring propaganda
I can’t believe anyone actually thinks Obama’s ad was better.
A bunch of naive D-List Celebs no one cares about versus Jack. Come on, it’s no contest. Jack wins hands down.
Still, Obama is billion times better than McCain, that’s for sure.
Matt,
You do make a good argument. I do think Obama is an extremely intelligent man and will do great things for the country if elected. I guess I am just bothered mostly about his speeches. I’m obviously more of a Hilary fan and think she would do better in office. I personally feel that Obama’s support is attained from his inspirational speeches which perturbs me. But I really like and agree with “Free’s” comment.
“You talk about Obama cults, at least it’s a group of people who are energized about rebuilding the country”
That could not be truer, hopefully it will last.
This election year has made it pretty difficult to like one candidate if you love the other. Ask me last year, I’d tell you I love the Clintons. But they’ve played very low-blow campaign tricks, and not just that, they’ve ALL backfired on them. Hillary’s gone from being passionte to frustrated to just very pathetic.
Obama appeals to independents, liberals, and even some conservatives. He could unite the country, Hillary would polarize it. A very, very, very conservative kid I talked with said he would vote for Obama, and that, like no one else he’s ever known, he makes politics interesting. I think that’s true.
Whoever it comes down to, and I hope my guy does get the vote, I wouldn’t vote for McCain. He’ll expire before 4 years and Huckabee would take over, a candidate I am telling you now would be TEN TIMES worse than Bush (seriously? yeah, seriously!) You talk about Obama cults, at least it’s a group of people who are energized about rebuilding the country, not messing it up quicker with crazy evangelicals. Plus, McCain is boring as dishwater. If I hear another speech by him with the montone “my friends,” I’ll slap the person next to me so hard they’ll have a permanent mark on their face.
Well a little problem I have with it right now is that Clinton would still be ahead if Florida and Michigan counted. But the bigger problem I have is that Clinton is winning all the blue-states while Obama is winning all the red-states, so clearly the democrats in the states that vote democratic prefer Clinton. However I think it will be hard for either one to beat McCain.
As a non American the only thing I feel comfortable saying is, yes Kerry Washington is darn good looking.
phatpatt,
Ask 100 people who they support and why, I bet the number who give an eloquent list of issue related reasons is in the single digits. You’ll find that for any of the three candidates.
The “What will he do?” argument is stupid as well. As if he’s just going to spend his term partying and getting laid, like Bill Clinton. Obama is a smart guy, who will be surrounded by even smarter guys, who will push forward a left-leaning Democratic agenda.
Matt,
The media told me nothing about his cult following. It is what I have perceived from just watching his speeches. All I do is watch speeches and debates, I don’t wait for the analysis on them. I have also spoke with people on the Obama bandwagon and all they say is that he is “good for America”. How? They can’t answer. But like I said before, as long as a democrat is in office, I don’t care who wins. I’m just going to be looking forward to when/if Obama gets into the office and his fans start complaining. Inspirational speeches only go so far.
Jessica Alba is just the sort of intellectual that should be championed for the Obama campaign. She sure represents its core : all presentation, little real substance.
I do, however, find it fascinating how inspired Obama can get crowds, and this is a testament to his integrity as a man and oratory grace.
That said, I want my Commander-in-chief to be one who already has clear, thorough plans on how to save this nation from where its going. Hillary is what we need, despite clearly not being what everybody wants.
And yes, Kerry Washington looks gorgeous, but its a little annoying that you can tell she knows it too.
“He has this cult following of fans whom most don’t even know what he stands for”
-phatpatt
I hate this talking point the media keeps circulating. First off, I don’t think a majority (or plurality, depending on the poll) of the country can be considered a cult.
Second off, if you watch any of the debates, read his website, or listen past the first 3 minutes of one of his speeches, he’ll tell you what he believes.
Obama is the new Santa Claus.
That ad was kinda hilarious because it was one pie-in-the-sky wish list after another without any specifics on how it’s going to be done.
Hillary has the experience to deal with all of these. If Obama gets elected, I better see “inspired” people doing some good for the community, because getting inspired does not end in the poll booth.
Jessica Alba could make my head explode without asking me anything.
Oops, I thought Obama’s video was a clip package from this year’s Razzie Awards. Jessica Alba, I’d LOVE to ask her how Obama’s health care proposal differs from Clinton’s. Hell, I’d love to ask her the square root of 9 so I could really see her head explode.
last night watching and laughing with SNL, my 14 year old told me how big the push for Obama is with teenagers and this video sends that message home (though the demographic push on it seems like a reach out to a cross ethnic not just younger audience). Then in today’s paper a front page article about over 50 women not giving up on Hillary. That makes sense and speaks to the divide in the party. She is the candidate with the experience and the ability to lead (IMO). But I’m afraid she won’t win the party’s nomination. I’ll vote for Obama; I just hope he’s a man of more than words and a smart campaign .
Kerry Washington – pretty good looking indeed
I think we’re straying from the issue that is most important here…
Good God, how gorgeous is Kerry Washington in that Obama video?!
But seriously, I saw Obama speak at my college, Texas State University, last week. We had what looked like the entire alumni there. It was so inspiring to see that many young people interested or at least curious about the election. I for one don’t find anything sincere about Clinton. I really think Obama is a man of his word. Call me naive, but that might just be what the country needs.
The Hillary Clinton ad is hilarious and off-point because all of the clips from Jack’s movies are about a corrupt character (a psycho comic book character, an evil general, a disturbed, cabin fevered man, and a man pretending to be insane) so it’s funny that he should use all them to push forward the “experience” agenda of Hillary Clinton.
While Obama’s runs too long but we get the inspirational message.
I know it is election year and everyon (hopefully) cares about elections and politics. But this is one of the few web sites i come just to relax and read something about movies and Oscars. ANd suddenly, Hillary vs. obama is here. There are enough web sites out there about Hillary vs. Obama. I wish we could just talk about movies or politics in movies here instead of real politics…
That’s a great point AD. (several interconnected great points).
The Hillary video seems to me to reek of some guys in ties sitting around a conference table trying to think up something that would look “cool” for the youtube crowd.
The Obama video feels more like something from the heart of those participating, on their own, in a truer more effortless “cool” simulation of grassroots populist spontaneity.
yep, I did say “simulation” because there’s a degree of artifice and emotional manipulation in both. But Obama’s video is done with such grace and finesse, I’m willing — even eager — to accept the sincerity as something genuine.
Jack is Jack, and we love him. But am I the only one who feels there’s something just a little creepy about having the villain of A Few Good Men — an accomplice to murder, right? — be the Clinton spokesperson?
I can handle the truth, Jack. But in that role you were playing an arrogant lying scumbag.
First of all the Will.I.am video is not produced by the Obama campaign. Second, HIllary is a big power monger who can’t help but whine whenever she is not happy about her situation as a loser. As a woman there is nothing more than I detest. And why is she more experienced, because she lived in the WH with Bill? or because she she was so successful with universal healthcare? Or because she signed on for the Iraq war? Go Obama!
I’m not on the Obama bandwagon, because I do think Clinton would make the better president. Having said that, if Obama does end up with the nomination, he will have my 100% support. McCain? Blech. Anyone but.
Well I know less than nothing about politics, and even less about American politics, so I say vote for the black dude, he seems solid. From what I have heard on the news anyway.
{I have no idea what I am talking about, clearly}
I like Hillary too. Always have.
But it matters very little how much experience you have at the game if nobody wants to play with you anymore.
I also think Obama is more electable because (what I keep hearing) conservatives are not enthusiastic about McCain, but will turn out in droves anyway for a chance to vote against a Clinton.
In the most blunt terms, it’s not which candidate is loved the most. It’s which one is hated the least.
That said, if Donald Duck were a Democrat (and I happen to know he is) I’d vote for him over McCain.
the award for best presidential campaign goes to…Barack Obama! Obama’s campaign is like the summer blockbuster – its big, its flashy, larger than life, has a hell of a bigger budget than others and and in the end you walk away with nothing substantial but hell wasn’t that entertaining! Yea that pretty much sums up Barack Obama.
(Before people start making claims of racism please note that I am a man of color and I urge all other people of color not to vote just because a candidate is black or for that matter just cause the candidate is a woman. Please take the time to make an informed decision. Thank you. I’m Alfredo and I approve this message.)
Actually, I support Hillary too and I’m very very sexy.
Obama’s ad is completely cultish. I feel like all these people are completely disillusioned by his superior linguistic skills. All he talks about is “for america, for america” “we can change” “black people white people” “we are america”. sooo… how are things going to get better? He has this cult following of fans whom most don’t even know what he stands for, they are just mesmerized. Hillary actually talks about issues in her rallies, speeches, and ads. Either way, he looks to get the nomination and i’ll vote for him. Anything is better than Bush.
Hi Ryan, hmmm… starbucks (they’re not doing too well though are they?)
Its unfair that in today’s world, the more qualified yet less hip candidate is struggling to win the nomination. I would be willing to vote for Obama in 4 years, just not now. And I do believe that she is better than her campaign, much better.
Love the Obama ad, can’t stand the candidate
Can’t stand the Clinton ad, love the candidate
Hillary’s ad makes me want to vote for Jack Nicholson.
Or actually, Jake Gittes.
Obama’s ad isn’t about being endorsed by a personality. It’s about being endorsed by the people. We the People.
Hillary’s ad looks like The Bucket List.
Obama’s ad looks like I’m Not There.
I think it can. At least hers have a sense of humor rather than a smug and cultish sense of superiority. Also Jack Nicholson, 3 time Oscar winner > will.i.am writer off such classic songs as “Let’s Get Retarded” and “My Humps.”
Doesn’t Nicholson realize all the cool kids are with Obama nowadays?
Hillary opening SNL last night was pretty good, though.
