After releasing a dramatic Punisher-heavy trailer earlier in the month, Netflix unveiled the back half of its epic 2-part Daredevil season two trailer. This section features Daredevil’s former love interest Elektra (Elodie Yung, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) who is equally adept at ass-kicking. Aside from Daredevil and Elektra’s meet-cute re-introduction, the trailer focuses on their difficult battle with The Hand, a group of “evil mystical ninjas” who are heavily involved in organized crime.
What strikes me as intriguing/worrisome about the two trailers is how completely different they are. Not in tone, of course. No, that’s all ass-kicking and despair. On the surface, it looks as if the Punisher and Elektra components of the second season don’t completely intersect. Here’s hoping the creative team is able to gracefully blend the two components into a cohesive whole. Between the Punisher, Elektra, Stick (Scott Glenn, returning), the Hand, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page, Daredevil’s got a whole lot going on in season two.
Daredevil‘s second season premieres on Netflix March 18.
