It’s only appropriate that the first crop of trailer for MTV’s Scream came out during this Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. The original Wes Craven slasher (which revitalized the horror genre for an ample time) won Best Movie at the same ceremony back in 1997. The television version also received a release date – teenagers will begin getting spooked on June 30.
The new spots feature a lot of disposable teens running around in the dark and getting turned into fishsticks. As a huge Scream fan, I appreciate the allusions to the original film: the patio doors and a possible scene in a garage can only make the biggest Scream freaks giddy with excitement.
The third spot (titled, “This Summer”) is especially dripping with meta-goodness.
