TV News: Danson hits Fargo, Olmos Books SHIELD, Jane Seymour Meets Jane the Virgin, Friends Reunion, More

Returning Series

Fargo. Ted Danson, Patrick Wilson, and Jean Smart have booked series-regular roles on season 2 of the FX Coen knockoff, while Nick Offerman, Brad Garret, Kieran Culkin, Jeffrey Donovan and others have landed recurring roles. Danson will play Sherrif Hank Larsson “an unflappable WWII vet who embodies a certain cowboy poetry, Hank is Lou’s father-in-law.” Wilson will play young Lou Solverson (father of Molly played by Kieth Carradine in season one). Jean Smart will play the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family. “She’s stood by her husband’s side for 40 years, but now that he’s out of the picture she thinks it’s her turn to run things.” (EW)

Continuing Series

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Edward James Olmos (Miami Vice, Battlestar Galactica) will guest on ABC’s Marvel show when it returns from hiatus in March. No real details about the nature of his character except that he will have “massive repercussions” on the show. (TVLine)

Jane the Virgin. Meet Jane the Medicine Woman. Jane Seymour will have a recurring spot on the rising CW hit as the head of a group of romance writers the TV Jane joins. (TVLine)

Web Therapy. Matthew Perry reteams with Friends costar Lisa Kudrow on her HBO show. He’ll play a lawyer/pathological liar who needs Fiona’s help before he gets disbarred. (TVByTheNumbers)

New Series

Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen. The Dateline jackass who made himself famous stinging sexual predators on camera has his own show on Investigation Discovery now. The six-part show promises “an in-depth look at some of America’s most horrific crimes.” Look for it this Summer. (TVByTheNumbers)

Matt on the Run. Animal Planet has greenlit this series featuring adventurer Matt Galland exploring remote areas of the globe with his pals. (TVByTheNumbers)

Line of Fire. Investigation Discovery has greenlit this special “honoring the brave men and women in blue who risk their lives daily to serve and protect all Americans.” (TVByTheNumbers)

Renewals/Cancellations

Inside Comedy. Showtime’s interview series hosted by David Steinberg has been given a 4th season. Expect interviews of Stephen COlbert, Michael Keaton, Bryan Cranston, Wanda Sykes, Ted Danson, Carol Leifer and Dan Aykroyd. (TVByTheNumbers)
