BBC America and BBC One have finally released the first full trailer for the eagerly anticipated Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Susanna Clarke. In the story, the titular magicians (played by Bertie Carvel and Eddie Marsan, respectively) seek to return Napoleonic-era England to a world of magic but unleash an evil force that threatens the lives of those around them.
The eye-popping trailer features stunning cinematography, beautiful costumes, and special effects that seem to accentuate the story rather than overwhelm it. If it airs on BBC America in May (which it is supposed to), then it will figure heavily in this year’s Emmy race.
