PODCAST – Nick Kroll’s ‘Big Mouth’ Isn’t Just About Dirty Jokes

Emmy-nominee Nick Kroll talks about the importance of the Big Mouth Planned Parenthood episode.

There are a lot of dirty things in Netflix’s Big Mouth. Oversexed talking pillows, rambunctious horny preteens who are confused by their own loins–puberty is dangerous for everyone. No one escapes its clutches, so you have to hunker down and hope that you are all right.

Nick Kroll voices a ton of characters on the Big Mouth, but he also has a sneaky hand in the content. The animated series has an enormous heart and an earnest, sweet nature that one wouldn’t normally suspect from a show that talks about boners aplenty.

Throughout our conversation, he enlightened me as to how the Planned Parenthood episode came to be, and he commented on his continued relationship with John Mulaney. His involvement and creation of Big Mouth is so much more than we think it is. He values the education of young people about puberty and sex. We could all use a little more education when it comes to tolerance and acceptance.

All episodes of Big Mouth are currently available on Netflix.
