WGA Awards Honors ‘Mad Men,’ ‘Veep’

WGA Awards

The WGA Awards recognizes the best in television writing

The Writer’s Guild of America unveiled the winners in the 2016 WGA Awards ceremony tonight. Announced categories covered both television and film, voted on by the 12,000 members of the WGA. The WGA Awards separates its categories into overall series winners and individual episode winners. AMC’s Mad Men won for Drama Series with HBO’s Veep winning for Comedy Series. USA Network’s Mr. Robot won for new series.

The individual achievements in Drama and Comedy went to Better Call Saul and Silicon Valley, respectively. Bob’s Burgers won on the animation front after receiving two nomination in the category. Inside Amy Schumer won for variety or sketch series, including a trophy for star Amy Schumer.

On the children’s television front, Descendants received the award for Long Form or Special. This follows something of a hot streak for Disney Channel programmer after winning the Director’s Guild of America award last weekend for director Kenny Ortega.
