Nikki Finke reports that the snow slowed Avatar’s opening slightly, making it the third highest of all time, behind I Am Legend and Return of the King. Considering Avatar is long and 3-D is required, that’s still pretty good. It should build steadily as word of mouth spreads. Once regular people realize that they can enjoy it too it should start making more than just fanboy dollars. Seriously, though, look at The Blind Side. That is amazing.¬† By the way, in case you’re thinking that The Blind Side is only making “right winger” money, the kids at my daughter’s middle school, mostly liberal I suppose, were all talking about The Blind Side.
