For Colored Girls Living Portraits and Oscar Buzz

Lionsgate has created a beautiful living gallery of portraits from Tyler Perry’s upcoming For Colored Girls movie.

I haven’t found many reviews yet on the film but I’m hoping it’s great. Tyler Perry doesn’t need the Oscar voters to approve of him or his films. He has a built-in audience, owns his own studio and is incredibly prolific. Whether the white-centric Academy pays him any mind is kind of beside the point. Nonetheless, it would be a great addition to the Best Pic 10 if it’s good.

Tyler Perry appeared on Oprah today talking about his physical and sexual abuse suffered as a child. It was an incredibly moving, and starkly honest interview. He could have used the hour to hype his film, but instead he decided to open up about his past. Here’s to hoping Oprah was right when she said it already had Oscar buzz.
