That Evening Sun & Harry Brown

Three of our finest actors play old-timers kickin’ it hardcore this year. Walt Kowalski, what hast thou wrought?

  • That Evening Sun: (Hal Holbrook) An aging Tennessee farmer returns to his homestead and must confront a family betrayal, the reappearance of an old enemy, and the loss of his farm.
  • Harry Brown: (Michael Caine) An elderly ex-serviceman and widower looks to avenge his best friend’s murder by doling out his own form of justice.
  • Get Low: (Robert Duvall) Equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about a 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party… while he was still alive.

I’ll be surprised if at least one of these performances isn’t a major contender.
Trailers after the cut. Which one of the three looks most promising to you?
