I liked the retro warmth and coziness of the old poster too, but it was a bit precious. This one far more existentially apropos. The best part of this package are three cool clips of the movie itself, from Twitch. The third one gives me confidence that Charlie Kaufman has been paying attention to the directorial flair his scripts got from Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry. (”You have learned well, grasshopper.”)

I want to make love to this poster.
…Do I get a prize?
Just another thing to point out, the score in this movie sounds FANTASTIC. Especially since its from the same guy that did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (can’t remember his name at the moment) which had an amazing score as well.
Kaufman + Hoffman: The possibilities for greatness boggle the mind. The poster is perfect.
Agreed with HaroldsMaude
Daniel, the composer for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was Jon Brion and – just a general “FYI” – those clips have been around for a while now by virtue of themoviebox.net/trailers. That site tends to present most previews and clips as soon as they’re available and circulating the internet somewhere.
Gondry was robbed of a BD nomination for Eternal Sunshine, and I would have liked to have seen Jon Brion get in for Score as well.
I love Charlie Kaufman, and I’ll watch anything he gets behind. I’m really looking forward to this one.
Remember Stranger Than Fiction? That was a good movie.
Is it possible to have too much PSH?
RichardA: do you mean in one film, or in one season (considering that he’s also coming out in Doubt) and was in several films last year?
either way, no.
Eternal Sunshine… sigh. One of my favorite movies this decade. STILL can’t believe Jim Carrey was ignored – again.
Not feeling much love towards this new project, though.

Thanks Rich, I knew that name but it had slipped my mind. Also, AD, has posted those three clips before (I’m pretty sure).
Eternal Sunshine is definitely one of my all time favorites, and I definitely consider Kaufman one of the greatest writers of all time and probably my own personal favorite (especially for Eternal Sunshine and Being John Malkovich)
Synecdoche looks like it has much of the same vibe as his other great movies, and I think he’ll be a great director, since a lot of the credit for his other movies goes to him (without the writing, they’d be nothing).
In short: my most anticipated movie of the year (now that TDK has been realeased, that is).
And, no, I don’t think it could ever be possible to have too much PSH.
Can’t wait for a trailer!

Glimmer, that’s all pretty interesting. I’ve read the early draft of the screenplay (though couldn’t find anything newer) and that even clarified a couple of things.
[...] not as dreamlike and tantalizing as the teaser poster, but a beautiful Metropolis-under-glass terrarium all the same. Probably best that promotional [...]
