Meet the Academy

Never Too Early Movie Predictions has a nifty page of the breakdown of Academy’s numbers. But the data is from 1984. I have updated the numbers and built a new pie chart.

And the handy pie chart of voting members. Look at all those actors! This is why, often, when there’s a split vote the SAG ensemble has always, 100% of the time, figured in (even when Traffic won for Soderbergh, it had won the SAG ensemble heading into the race). Crash, Shakespeare in Love – those famous splits the SAG ensemble was always in play. Ergo, if this were in keeping with those trends, as in, the actors cockblocked the favorite, American Hustle would be your surprise winner.
