Update: Diablo Cody almost fainted when Johnny Depp won his award for Best Comedic Performance. He did look, well, seriously gorgeous.
Earlier: MTV is liveblogging the red carpet. Watch if you can stand even a second of it. I never can. Almost worth it to see Robert Downey, Jr. and co. win for Iron Man for “Best Summer Movie of the Year So Far.” Ropes of Silicon wins the contest for Best Headline with MTV Proves Their Irrelevance with 2008 Movie Awards.
Obviously a rather pathetic list of films, but considering MTV describes their show as irreverent you can’t really blame the results. After all, it isn’t about the movies as much as it is about giving movie studios and record labels a chance to promote their upcoming films and albums.
And promote they do. It’s every limelight-craving starlet in town.
