Up in the Air, first look

After watching this clip a couple of times now, trying to nail down why it’s so appealing, I see that it reminds me very much of the bar scene between Clooney and Lopez in Out of Sight. Two beautiful people charming each other’s pants off in the warm glow of red lampshades and amber shots of bourbon. It’s what we call star power, folks, and it’s in short supply during these times of low-wattage studio “efficiency.” It doesn’t require 3D or CGI to quicken the pulse and make our pupils dilate.
