A shocking bit of news today. Director George Hickenlooper, whose Casino Jack starring Kevin Spacey was opening this year, has died from what appear to be natural causes. Hickenlooper was found dead this morning. A regular commenter at Jeff Wells’ Hollywood-Elsewhere, many of us felt that we “knew” him. He is best known for his great documentary, Hearts of Darkness about the making of Apocalypse Now. He also directed Factory Girl with Sienna Miller, among other films. No doubt this is unexpected and tragic news for his family and everyone who knew him.¬† Mois√©s Chiullan tweeted this, “I hung out with George Hickenlooper just Thursday night. He was a friend. We were making plans about doing a HEARTS OF DARKNESS commentary.”
