Nadine Labaki – Capernaum BEST MOTION PICTURE – FOREIGN LANGUAGE (Lebanon)
I almost can’t believe it. This is the first nomination for the Golden Globes for me and Lebanon! Every time the film has this kind of recognition a little more light is being shed on the situation of the unseen and the invisible that this film is portraying. Every child in this world who is deprived from his fundamental rights. Every child who is not allowed to be a child anymore. Every recognition will make their voices resonate a little louder every time. This is also a beautiful recognition to my beautiful team who put their heart and soul in this film and without whom this adventure would have never been possible. And to my beautiful actors who deserve every recognition and every applaud and who just a few months ago were struggling to even exist in this world. You know Capernaum means chaos and miracles. Well this is another small miracle happening today!
Rachel Weisz – The Favourite –Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for recognizing The Favourite. I’m so proud to be nominated alongside such a brilliant group of actresses, including my incredible co-star Emma. And all hail our nominated Queen Olivia! These honors are a testament to the brilliance of our director Yorgos Lanthimos. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Christina Steinberg – Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse Producers- Best Animated Feature ”We are grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for embracing the story of Miles Morales. He is a new kind of hero – he is flawed and dealing with all kinds of relatable challenges. And as filmmakers we wanted this movie to inspire young people to become heroes. Inspire grownups to help young people become heroes. And remind us all that we’re not alone.”
Linda Perry – “Girl in the Movies” – DUMPLIN’- Best Original Song
“At 6:20am a friend sent me a tweet saying congratulations on the nomination. Honestly, I was like “nomination?” I immediately started searching the storage in my memory, then another congrats came in saying for Golden Globe Nom. Then I was like “Yay Dolly!” I love her so much, and of course I’m happy for myself, but I am SO HAPPY for Dolly. She walked into my life and turned the lights on, and I have not been able to shut them off since. So proud and honoured to be part of each other’s Journey. Thank you to the HFPA for recognizing Dumplin’ and “Girl in the Movies.”
Constance Wu – Crazy Rich Asians – Best Actress Comedy/Musical
This has been such an extraordinary morning! I am beside myself with excitement! I never imagined something like this would happen for me, because I had never seen it happen to another Asian-American actress before. I was always just an actress because I loved acting. In Hollywood, Asian actors (including myself) have always supported another culture’s story, but for the first time in 25 years this film was about our culture. That’s so important for kids who grew up as minorities–it tells them that their country values their story, even if they’re a little different. Because our culture isn’t just how we look, it’s how we live and breathe and laugh and love. I’m glad to be a part of this movement and so grateful for the HFPA’s recognition of it. Alexandre Desplat – Isle of Dogs – Best Original Score
“What fantastic news! So many thanks to the HFPA I love dogs I love cats I love Japan I love Wes (Anderson)!”

Michael Douglas- The Kominsky Method – Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy
“It is such an honor to be nominated as a comedy actor for The Kominsky Method.”
Steven Canals, Co-creator and Executive Producer – POSE – Best Television Series—Drama
“I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring the years of passionate work that went into bringing our show POSE to life, and especially for ‘seeing’ our show and acknowledging the gorgeous community of people it depicts. It has been a journey, to say the least, to convince anyone in Hollywood that the show was not “too niche”—so I must thank first and foremost Ryan Murphy for shepherding the show into the world as only he can. I’m a boy from the Bronx who grew up watching the Golden Globes, never imagining I’d be a nominee, so to say this is a dream come true is an absolute understatement. I thank everyone at FX, Fox 21 Television Studios, all of my fellow producers, and congratulate our entire cast and crew—with a special shout-out to the great Billy Porter on his much-deserved nomination. Finally, we share this nomination with our incredible viewers who have opened their hearts and minds to our story, and look forward to bringing them another season of POSE.”
