The Visual Effects Society unveiled their nominations for their annual VES Awards today. Included in the nominations are all of the Oscar shortlisted titles with one exception – Universal’s beleaguered Cats was excluded from the nominations. Replacing that film is Todd Phillip’s Joker. Alita: Battle Angel and The Lion King led the photoreal feature categories with five nominations a piece. Toy Story 4 led animated films, also receiving five nominations.
On the TV front, rest assured that Baby Yoda (or “The Child”) received a nomination for character in an episode. The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones led television nominations with six nominations.
