The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (GALECA ) have cast their votes and Moonlight was announced as the big winner with six wins. Moonlight won Best Picture, and Barry Jenkins was honored with Director of the year. It also won LGBTQ film of the year, Best Screenplay of the Year, and Mahershala Ali won Performance of The Year by an Actor. Moonlight tied last year’s Carol for most Dorian Award wins.
Fences star Viola Davis was honored with Performance of the Year by an Actress. GALECA members also vote in TV and People V O.J Simpson won Drama of The Year and Sarah Paulson won TV Performance of the Year by an Actress.
Carrie Fisher who passed away late last year was posthumously awarded Wilde Wit of The Year, and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda tied SNL’s Kate McKinnon for Wilde Artist of The Year.
The Winners toast will be on February 18, 2017 in Hollywood.
