Focus Features has released this exclusive of Liam Neeson reading the first chapter of A Monster Calls. The film opens in select theaters this Friday and will be released on January 6, 2017.

Based on the best-selling children’s book, A Monster Calls mixes fantasy and reality as a young boy Conor learns to cope with his mother’s illness. Each night at the same time, he’s paid a visit by a monster (voiced by Liam Neeson). The monster tells him stories and turns out to be an unlikely ally in helping him cope with what he’s going through.
