British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) Nominations, Led by I, Daniel Blake

Although there isn’t a lot of Oscar crossover here, it’s definitely worth noting that both Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight show up on this list. Andrea Arnold and American Honey might be headed for a screenplay nomination. The jury is sill out on I. Daniel Blake but the Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg did pose the idea that it’s possible the revered Ken Loach could receive a lone Best Director nomination, as sometimes happens with the Directors Branch, even if the film overall doesn’t make it.
